Global Make Up Hair & Productions Academy (GMUA) - Creative Summer Camp

Smoking, Vaping and Tobacco Products

Smoking is strictly prohibited on the premises of GMUA, including outdoor and play areas. This rule applies to all individuals - staff, visitors, and anybody dropping off or collecting children from the premises. This includes vaping devices and e-cigarettes.

If a child is found in possession of cigarettes, tobacco products, or e-cigarettes while attending GMUA, these items will be confiscated and their parent or carer will be informed at the end of the session.

Alcohol

Anyone arriving at GMUA visibly under the influence of alcohol will be asked to leave immediately. Staff in breach of this policy will be subject to formal disciplinary procedures.

If a child is found with alcohol in their possession, the item will be confiscated and their parent or carer will be notified.

Staff must not bring alcohol onto the premises under any circumstances.

Drugs and Medication

Any individual who arrives at GMUA under the influence of illegal substances will be required to leave immediately. Staff who violate this policy will face serious disciplinary action.

If a child is found to be in possession of illegal drugs, their parent or carer will be informed.

Staff prescribed medication that may impact their ability to care for children safely must notify the manager and seek medical advice. A risk assessment will be conducted, and further guidance may be sought if necessary.

Staff may only work directly with children if medical advice confirms that their medication does not impair their ability to provide safe care. All staff medication must be securely stored and kept out of children’s reach at all times.

Safeguarding Children

All staff have a duty to report concerns to the manager and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) if they believe a parent or carer may pose a risk to a child’s safety due to being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs at the time of drop-off or collection.

If a parent or carer is clearly intoxicated or impaired, staff will take every reasonable step to prevent the child from being transported by them. Where necessary, the police will be contacted to ensure the child’s safety.
